Constituency Two road surface problems being addressed
Dangerous road surfaces in Ferry Reach — highlighted when Up Your Street visited St. George's West last month — are now being put right.
Constituency Two MP Kim Swan praised Works Minister Derrick Burgess for the action which he says will ease safety concerns in bad weather.
Mr. Swan said Ferry Road had been in a poor state for years, and got worse as heavy traffic grew while the area became industrialised.
"I am thankful on behalf of the long suffering residents of Ferry Reach who had been concerned about the deplorable state of the road, which had deteriorated to a point that made travelling on it dangerous to motorists, particularly during rainy and windy periods," said Mr. Swan in a statement.
"The Minister of Works, Mr. Burgess, gave an undertaking that the work would be done and I am pleased for the residents that this work is well underway.
"Thanks again to the Minister of Works and also to The Royal Gazette for the forum to bring this concern to the forefront.
"This area becomes more popular in the summer so motorists and residents will certainly know the difference and enjoy their travel on the road now."
