Dispute disrupts Tynes Bay

Tynes Bay staff have aired their complaints about the loss of three vehicles from their fleet.

A meeting was held yesterday morning between Works and Engineering bosses and all employers of the Prospect Depot along with their union representatives.

Staff are said to be unhappy at the impact on their department from the cost-cutting move to reduce Government's fleet from 500 to 455.

Works Minister Derrick Burgess has previously stated the decision has not been well received in some areas of the public service, but has pointed out the cost of maintaining Government's fleet went up from just over $3 million in 2004/05 to $3.7 million in 2007/08.

Last night, a Works spokesman said staff were back on the job immediately after their meeting.
