Kitted out for foul weather

Seafaring students from St. David's got to model brand new foul weather gear given to the Spirit of Bermuda during a five-day voyage on the sloop.

The 21 boys from Clearwater Middle School, aged 12 to 13, went out on the vessel last week for an educational trip around coastal Bermuda.

Although the sun was mostly shining, they were the first pupils to try out the foul weather gear donated by Island Trading.

Malcolm Kirkland, Bermuda Sloop Foundation's director of strategic initiatives, said Island Trading donated 40 sets of gear and made a similar donation in 2006, which has since been worn by more than 1,600 students on board the boat.
