Two charities aimed at improving the lives of the disabled in Bermuda have merged.

WindReach Recreational Village and Bermuda Riding for the Disabled (BRD) have joined.

They will now be known as WindReach Bermuda. A board, consisting of directors from both WindReach and BRD, will run the new organisation.

The charity's executive director, Lance Furbert, said the merger will allow the operations to share resources and reduce costs.

Programmes currently offered by both organisations such as summer camps, riding programmes, and seniors' teas will continue.

"Over the years, WindReach has grown from organising recreational activities to offering programmes which are therapeutic and education-based," said Mr. Furbert, who described the merger as a "natural evolution".
