Online petition launched calling for UK probe into Government contracts
A group is working to drum up support for an investigation into how Bermuda Government contracts are awarded.
'Bermudians who care about our future' has launched an online petition against "a lack of information, transparency and accountability" within the public sector.
The petition calls for an inquiry into the awarding of contracts by the UK Foreign Affairs Committee.
Those behind it cite the recent charges by Auditor General Heather Jacobs Matthews of financial irregularities in the development of TCD, as one of their concerns.
They call for a Commission of Inquiry to "inquire into whether there is evidence of corruption in relation to the awarding and execution of Bermuda Government contracts by past and present elected members of the Bermuda House of Assembly in recent years".
The petition, which started on Tuesday, is trying to raise 5,000 signatures.
Sixty-five persons had signed by yesterday evening.
