Peeping Tom remanded into custody for pre-sentencing reports

A peeping Tom was remanded in custody after he admitted spying on a woman through her bedroom window and then breaking in to "get another peek".

Police arrested Raymond Levon, 35, after he left a note on the victim's door telling her he was single and wanted to become her friend.

The married father-of-two from St. John's Road, Pembroke pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court yesterday to prowling, invading a woman's privacy and trespassing.

Crown counsel Takiyah Burgess said the victim was lying naked in her bedroom watching television on July 24 when she heard a noise and became alarmed.

She dressed and searched her Smith's parish home but found nothing.

The next day she noticed a bucket had been placed on the ground outside her bedroom.

When she stood on the bucket she realised she could see inside her bedroom through a half-moon window above her bed.

That afternoon, she found a note attached to her door in a plastic twist.

The note said: "Hi, my name's Raymond. I like what I see.

"I'm new to the hood, single, and looking for friendship."

The note also included Levon's phone number.

The next morning, the victim found a concrete block had been placed below her bedroom window, a ladder outside the home had been moved and the screen on a second-floor window had been removed.

After she contacted the Police, officers called the phone number left on the note and asked Levon to come to Hamilton Police Station for questioning.

The taxi driver admitted that he spied on the woman after seeing her riding through the neighbourhood on a bicycle.

He was quoted as saying: "I was just trying to watch her undress. She must have heard me because she put on her clothes again."

The next day, when he noticed that the view through the window had been blocked, he said he used the ladder to break into the house, trying to get another look.

In court, Levon said: "I know what I done was kinda wrong... I am seeking help and having counselling with my minister.

"Me and my wife are going through something right now with our marriage and sexual stuff."

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered Levon to be held in custody until September 17, and ordered a Social Inquiry Report.
