Police conduct a series of raids in Pembroke
Armed Police raided a home in Mount Hill, Pembroke, yesterday and arrested four people.
Acting Chief Inspector Calvin Smith said the search was conducted after information was received from members of the public.
It was carried out around 12.30 p.m by approximately a dozen officers from the serious crime, firearms and K9 units.
"One female and three males are in custody assisting the Police," he said in a statement to the media at the scene.
However, he declined to explain the nature of the investigation or what offence they were arrested on suspicion of.
Asked what prompted armed officers to be sent to the residence, Mr. Smith replied: "Specific information. In the times we are living in now, the public and Police force has called out for more robust Policing. That's what you saw today."
Asked if anything had been seized, he replied: "It's too early to say."
He confirmed that three out of the four people arrested at the house are residents there.
A puppy was seized by the Police from the house, and taken away by dog wardens.
Mr. Smith said it was suspected to be a purebred pit bull that contravenes dangerous dog regulations.
And at approximately 6.30 p.m. yesterday evening Police raided a home on Mount View Lane in Pembroke.
Police on the scene would not say whether the raid was connected to the one earlier in the day nor would they divulge what or who they were searching for.
Approximately ten uniformed as well as plain clothes officers, several carrying firearms, took part in the raid in marked and unmarked Police cars.
An officer, who asked not to be named, told The Royal Gazette there were six suspects in the home.
He said Police performed the raid "acting on information received".
A K9 unit arrived at the scene, near Spanish Point, at approximately 7.20 p.m. while Police questioned at least two suspects in the property's back yard.
About the K9 unit finished searching the residence, Police placed two men, one white, one black into separate cars and left the scene.
