Police issue warning after three burglaries on same day in same road

Police are warning St. George's residents to take extra precaution in securing their homes following a spate of area burglaries on Thursday.

According to officers, three burglaries which took place along Texas Road that day are possibly related.

Residents are now being advised to take extra precautions in securing their premises.

The first incident was reported around 6.45 p.m. at a Texas Road residence.

According to the complainant, a quantity of jewellery was removed from his home sometime between 7.45 a.m. and 6.15 p.m.

Less then two hours later, Police received another report of a burglary along the same road.

The second complainant said a quantity of jewellery and cash had been stolen sometime between 9 a.m. and 7.30 p.m.

A third break-in was reported on the road shortly after, however the complainant did not think anything had been taken.

According to officers, yet another burglary report at a St. George's residence was received at round 11.15 p.m., this time at a home on Hidden Valley.

The complainant said that someone entered her home between 5.45 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. and stole a Nintendo Wii video game system.

And sometime between Monday and Thursday, thieves broke into a Convict Bay Lane home while its residents were overseas.

Reported missing were two Mac laptop computers, a Canon digital camera and a Sony digital camera, as well as a quantity of cash and jewellery.

Inquiries into the incidents are underway.

A spokesperson said: "The Bermuda Police Service believes the three burglaries in the Texas Road, St. George's area may be linked.

"We are advising all residents, especially those in the Texas Road area, to securely lock their homes before leaving them unattended for any length of time, and to contact Police on 295-0011 if they notice any suspicious individuals or activity in their neighbourhoods."
