He said: "As I have stated previously and will continue to do is that, the Bermuda Police Service's capacity to deal with crime depends a large extent upon its relationship with the community.
"Recently in Bermuda this belief appears to have been accepted by many citizens resulting in a number of positive interaction that have advanced the Rhiana Moore and recent major investigations to their current status."
Det. Chief Insp. Daniels, who continues to lead the investigation, however, cautioned the public from jumping to any assumptions or acting inappropriately.
He added: "In addition to thanking members of the community for their assistance and efforts thus far, the Bermuda Police Service is encouraging citizens to remain patient, act responsibly and respect the feelings for the Moore family and friends while police continue their investigations.
"The request is made in view of the various rumours circulating within the community regarding the circumstances surrounding the death of Rhiana Moore."
