Premier's college tour heads for London
The Premier is to visit London to encourage graduates to bring their skills back to Bermuda.
Dr. Ewart Brown's College Tour visits The Dorchester hotel on October 25, offering students the chance to network and mix with potential employers.
Dr. Brown said: "London is always a major point of interest for me because it's where the whole College Tour idea started. After talking to our young people over there more than a year ago I knew we had to broaden the scope of this idea.
"The students really seem to appreciate the effort we put into this and they treat the evening like it really means something to their careers, showing up in business suits and with resumes. I've been very pleased to see that, because this is exactly what I intended – a forum for students to take seriously and for employers to take them seriously."
The Premier initiated the College Tour last year to encourage students to bring their talents back to the Island's workforce after graduating. Dr. Brown has so far visited four countries, including Bermuda. His most recent stop was in Halifax, Nova Scotia, last month.
Those businesses partnering with the College Tour include Butterfield Bank, Belco, the Institute for Chartered Accountants Bermuda, and careers.gov.bm.
The event will start with a networking reception and the Premier will then address students before a question and answer session. Dinner, dancing and performances by Bermudian artists will then follow.
