Students wish: The floating campus that is the M.V. Explorer. To study and travel the world costs $33,000.

A group of Bermuda College students are hosting a fashion show to raise money for a school trip around the world.

Three students want to take part in the Semester At Sea (SAS) programme which allows college students to travel, and at the same time gain college credits.

The trip costs approximately $33,000. The students are holding a fashion show on Saturday, February 7 to try and raise money towards their goal.

Next weekend Lee-Minors Fox Productions, in conjunction with the Bermuda College Athletic Division, are hosting 'Blush a pre-Valentine's Day Fashion Show' in the Bermuda College gymnasium.

Thirty models will don clothing from several of Bermuda's retail stores including: Marks & Spencer, Gibbon's Company, The Edge, Jazzy Boutique, Shannon's and At Last Bridal.

SAS is a study abroad programme managed by the Institute for Shipboard Education in Charlottesville, Virginia. The voyage takes on the cruise ship MV Explorer.

During the spring semester, the 100-day programme sees students travel from the western coast of North America to Asia, India, Africa and South America, finishing in the Caribbean, San Diego or Florida. The ship repeats that voyage in the opposite direction the following semester.

Spokesperson for Lee-Minors Fox Productions, Khamani Fox said: "This voyage, which lasts 108 days, will provide the students with an opportunity to visit several culturally diverse nations including China and Egypt to name a few, whilst obtaining 12 transferable college credits.

"The proceeds from this event will go towards subsidising the voyage cost which is approximately $33,000 per student.

"This is an event which all can attend. Advanced ticket prices begin at $15 for all students, $20 general admission, door price is $30 general admission and $80 for patrons."

Doors open at 7 p.m. The event begins at 7.30 p.m.

Following the show on Saturday, February 7, the Bermuda College Student Government Council, in conjunction with NiteStream Entertainment and Stallion Productions, will host 'The Official After Party' in the Bermuda College cafeteria.
