Summer students impress at Grotto Bay
It has been an industrious summer for a number of Bermudian students who have been working across various departments at Grotto Bay Beach Resort.
The mixture of high school and college students have been taken on by the resort as part of its annual intake of summer students to give them experience of working in the hospitality industry, and also the opportunity to earn some money during their summer break from studies.
Mika Jameson, executive assistant at the resort, said: "The majority started around June and will stay with us until September.
"They have been working across the resort from housekeeping to guest services. We are trying to get as many young Bermudians to work in the hotel industry, but it is hard.
"We have them come into specific departments and then move them around so they can see if something sparks their interest as something that they would like to do when they leave school.
"The students have been fantastic and if they needed jobs at Christmas we would take them back."
