Toronto street cars given Bermuda-style makeover
Two street cars in Toronto have been given a bright pink Bermuda makeover to encourage Canadian tourists to come to the Island.
The vehicles will be stationed in the city from this month to November as part of a Department of Tourism campaign to increase visitor numbers from North America.
Tourism director William Griffith said: "This is all part of our strategy to ramp up awareness about Bermuda in Canada. We are looking to grow this market and in order to do that we need to ensure that we're engaging in some innovative methods which will set us apart from other vacation destinations.
"When Canadians see these trolleys, we want them to not only think Bermuda, but we want to compel them to book a vacation to the Island. So we are thrilled about this promotional initiative."
The Department of Tourism is planning a Canadian "roadshow" later this month, when local hoteliers and partners will head to Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal to meet travel agents and tour operators.
Earlier this year, pink taxis promoting Bermuda were launched in London and a "Love Truck" was displayed in New York.
