Tourist road death accused in court

The man accused of causing the death of American tourist Martha Hoopes made a brief appearance in Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Harold Simons, of Bob's Valley Drive, Sandys, was told to return to court for a preliminary inquiry on Friday, November 14. His bail was extended.

Mrs. Hoopes, 39, died on March 24 after her motorcycle collided with a van near Waterlot Inn in Southampton. Her nine-year-old daughter, who was the pillion passenger, suffered serious injuries.
