Truck incident causes power disruption
Scores of Devonshire and Paget homes were left without power and cable yesterday after a utility pole was hit by a truck.
The accident on Berry Hill Road caused power lines and communication cables to come down.
Affected residents had to have lines reinstalled to their homes.
A Ministry of Works and Engineering spokesman said Belco crews put up a new pole and worked until 8 p.m. to install the cables.
Bermuda Telephone Company (BTC) and Bermuda CableVision crews were expected to install new lines on the poles well into the night.
A Cablevision spokesperson said: "All the utilities are working together to get the lines restored on Berry Hill Road."
Police were yesterday at the junctions with Berry Hill Road, Point Finger Road and Tee Street diverting traffic. Some traffic was diverted onto Camden grounds to access South Road; King Edward VII Memorial Hospital had to be accessed through Point Finger Road as the work was completed.
