Two charged with attempted murder

Two men were yesterday charged with the attempted murder of David Godwin.Jahmico Trott, 23, and Dunn-ya Taylor, 22, were both charged with attempting to unlawfully cause the death of Mr. Godwin on September 23 on Marsh Folly Road.Trott was additionally charged with illegally possessing a firearm, and using a firearm to commit attempted murder.

Two men were yesterday charged with the attempted murder of David Godwin.

Jahmico Trott, 23, and Dunn-ya Taylor, 22, were both charged with attempting to unlawfully cause the death of Mr. Godwin on September 23 on Marsh Folly Road.

Trott was additionally charged with illegally possessing a firearm, and using a firearm to commit attempted murder.

Both men are from Pembroke. Trott works for his stepfather's maintenance business, while Taylor plays football for the Boulevard Blazers.

Mr. Godwin was shot in his lower back while walking near the intersection of St. Monica's Road and Marsh Folly.

Yesterday dozens of uniformed officers stood watch outside Magistrates' Court along with several curious members of the public as the pair were escorted to and from the building.

Inside the packed courtroom, family members of both defendants appeared to hear the charges.

Because the charges must be heard in the Supreme Court, neither man was required to plea.

Despite arguments for bail by lawyers Larry Mussenden, representing Trott, and Marc Daniels, representing Taylor, Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded both men in custody.

They are expected to return to court on November 1 for the matter to be mentioned.
