Last week the plant was closed as a result of a malfunction of its contingency baling equipment. The restriction of bulk wood waste to the Tynes Bay Facility will remain in effect until next Monday.
The Ministry of Works and Engineering said in a statement the Marsh Folly facility is also now open and will no longer accept waste destined for the Tynes Bay Waste-to-Energy Facility.
The statement also said residential waste collection, including recyclables, will continue to be collected on their regular schedules, and the Airport Waste Management Facility will operate as normal.
