Where in the world is Kevin?
The sky is literally the limit for a Young Life Bermuda awareness campaign that takes off this coming Monday with a new weekly competition.
The outreach programme for young people has teamed up with jetBlue Airways to send Young Life Bermuda director Kevin Mahoney to as many different cities as possible over the next four weeks.
Using jetBlue's All You Can Fly pass, Mr. Mahoney will set out for secret jetBlue destinations each week. To enter the contest, called Where U At, Young Life Bermuda? Contestants have to try and correctly identify which four cities will be included in Kevin's secret itinerary each week.
Starting on Monday, there will be daily clues on Facebook (search for 'WhereUAt') and the Young Life website (www.younglifebda.org) to help contestants figure out where he is. Entry is online only, at younglifebda.org. The competition is free to enter and will run until October 6. Each week's contest will close at midnight each Thursday. One adult and one student winner will be drawn from correct entries each week.
Prizes include a Nintendo Wii, flat screen TV, hotel packages and grocery vouchers generously donated by sponsors Land Care & Gardening, Lindo's, M&M International, Paget Service Station, Speciality Cinema, Sports R Us, Red Laser and Willowbank. For a full list of prizes, go to www.younglifebda.org
Mr. Mahoney said: "The goal of Where U At, Young Life Bermuda is to raise awareness of Young Life in Bermuda, both in terms of reaching our young people and providing and creating opportunities for adults who may not know of Young Life to be involved as well as re-engaging alumni who have been involved over its 45-year history in Bermuda. In the current social environment, it is critical that we reach out to young people and as adults we need to be involved more than ever before."
Sheree Jacobs, Young Life's High School Coordinator added: "We think the contest will be a lot of fun for people to follow the clues from day to day. We hope that schools will get involved and use the contest and perhaps use the clues in their geography or social studies lessons."
Herbie Siggins, General Manager of jetBlue Airways in Bermuda, said: "jetBlue is very keen to be involved in community events and what better organisation to partner with than Young Life Bermuda? We are very pleased to be a part of it and we'll do everything we can throughout the jetBlue network to make Kevin's travels go as smoothly as possible."
