Police are trying to identify the remains of a lifeless body that was found at a Victoria Street, Pembroke home on Saturday afternoon.

According to a Police spokesman the body appears to have been at that location for some time; however foul play is not suspected.

The spokesman said: "Around 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, Police responded to a report of a sudden death at a Victoria Street, Pembroke residence.

"Officers and members of the public discovered the lifeless body of an individual inside the premises. It appears that the individual's lifeless body had been at that location for some time.

"An on-call physician attended the scene and certified death at 1:25 p.m.

Foul play is not suspected; however inquiries are ongoing to positively identify the remains.

"Therefore no further information will be released at this time until the deceased's identity is confirmed and the next of kin have been notified."
