Bermuda’s newest Neighbourhood Watch group has been set up in the area of Pompano Beach, Southampton, and Spring Benny Road, Sandys.Among those at Sunday’s meeting were Claire and Tim Simons, whose home was burgled in January and struck again last Wednesday“It’s the second time we got hit in four weeks,” said Mr Simons, who believes the initial burglar returned to steal things left behind from the last break-in.The intruder gained access by removing an air conditioner. A new PlayStation game system bought to replace the one stolen last month was taken, along with more games and cables.Although angry at being targeted again, Mr Simons said: “We’re just in the first stages, but it’s starting to get secure around this area. It definitely helps now everybody in the neighbourhood knows one another.”Pc Cerepha Bridgeman from the Western Community Action Team and Sgt Tirena Rollins from the Crime Prevention Unit helped launch the group, which hopes to take on residents from adjacent areas at the next meeting in March.
