RenaissanceRe chief executive officer Neill Currie was today named the Bermuda Insurance Institute's (BII) Industry Leader of the Year.One of the co-founders of RenRe in 1993, Mr Currie has been CEO since 2005 and “has stewarded the company through a period of intense catastrophic activity and financial market volatility”, the BII said in a statement today.The BII's Lifetime Achievement Award goes to former AIG legal counsel Michael Murphy. “His ideas, lobbying and endless hard work helped establish some of the critical movements and decisions that led to the success of the Bermuda market,” the BII stated.Gavin Bishop and Vivienne Moniz have been selected as co-recipients of the 2010 Young Industry Leader of the Year Award.Gavin Bishop is vice-president and controller of Validus Re, while Ms Moniz is an excess liability underwriter for XL Insurance (Bermuda).
