Minister seeks input on taxi authority
People have been invited to contribute their views on a new taxi authority for Bermuda.
Minister of Transport Terry Lister has assembled a Taxi Authority Review Committee to determine if the Island needs such an authority and meetings have been scheduled to gather input from industry stakeholders.
The first meeting was held on Thursday, March 10 at Warwick Workmen's Club. A second meeting for taxi owners and operators will be held tomorrow at Clearwater Middle School starting at 7pm.
According to a Government press release, the meetings are intended to be fact-finding gatherings.
This will give stakeholders a chance to provide input to assist the committee in preparing recommendations in a report to the Minister by the end of April.
Views will be sought on whether there is a need for a taxi authority, whether they believe this could work for Bermuda's taxi system and how they see such an authority functioning.
