Three arrested after motorcyclist robbed at gunpoint

Three people have been arrested in connection with a suspected armed robbery that took place last night.

Police today reported a motorcyclist was robbed by suspects brandishing what appeared to be a firearm.

The incident is said to have occurred in Paget around 11pm.

Said a Police spokesman: “Shortly afterwards police officers observed persons fitting the description of the suspects and pursued them. After a high-speed chase the offending cycle was lost in the Devonshire area. Check points were put in place leading to the recovery of what is believed to be an imitation firearm and the arrest of three persons who are assisting police with their inquiries.”

The incident follows the arrest of two following a series of similar attacks and attempted robberies between 10.30pm and 11.45pm on Monday. All victims were motorcycle riders, on the roads of Devonshire, Pembroke and Warwick.

Police say it is too early to confirm links between the two, but they are considering the possibility.

Anyone with information is asked to telephone police on 295-0011, or Crime Stoppers on 800-8477.
