‘Auntie Em’ dies

Alleged elder abuse victim “Auntie Em” has passed away peacefully at the age of 98.Wilhelmina Liburd died on Sunday at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s Continuing Care Unit (CCU), according to her nephew Stephen Woodley.Mrs Liburd was born in 1912 and worked at The Royal Gazette for more than 20 years as a typesetter and proof reader. She married Victor Liburd in 1956 and became a housewife. Mrs Liburd was widowed in 1980.Her alleged abuse by her adopted daughter at the family home on Upland Street, Devonshire, was revealed by this newspaper in September 2007.The funeral is expected to take place on Saturday afternoon at Evening Light on Parsons Road.
