Disabled motorist fined $1000 for reckless driving

A disabled driver was banned from driving all vehicles for two years after he admitted injuring another motorist by reckless driving in an October collision.Nelson Pearman, 28, from Pembroke, pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm through reckless driving.Crown counsel Susan Mulligan said Pearman was driving East on North Shore Road in Devonshire at high speed last October 7 when he lost control of his car and crashed into a wall.The vehicle swerved into the other lane, striking another motorist riding a motorcycle.The motorcyclist was rushed to hospital, where she remained for three days suffering from fractured ribs and internal bleeding.Pearman, who suffers from a back condition and walks with a cane, suffered a bruised chest and was treated and released by King Edward VII Memorial Hospital that day.After hearing the Crown’s summary of evidence, Pearman told Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner: “It’s all true, your Honour.”Mr Warner fined Pearman $1,000 and banned him from driving all vehicles for 24 months.
