Smoo Hunt and his close friend Kitina Simmons who died in a road crash three years ago this week.

Friends of a 23-year-old mother who died in a car crash shared their pain and memories on the third anniversary of her death this week.Kitina Simmons lost her fight for life on April 14, 2008 after suffering serious head injuries when her car overturned and struck a wall early on April 10.Ms Simmons, of Sandys, worked as a barmaid in The Robin Hood Pub & Restaurant in Hamilton.Police said she was travelling east along Middle Road, Warwick, when her car hit a pavement and overturned near the junction with Longford Road. She left behind a young daughter, Tinasia, who is now eight years old and being cared for by her grandmother.Ms Simmons’ friend Smoo Hunt, 25, said this week: “I really miss Kitina. She was my best friend. I was with her every day, and her daughter. We shared a lot together. I have cards and teddy bears that she gave me, along with pictures of her and I.”Mr Hunt met Ms Simmons because she used to watch him do football training with his brother. He said: “When she left me, my best friendship disappeared; she even helped my mom with gardening, she told me everything. I still love her and always will.”Another friend, Kalita Furbert, said: “Kitina is the mother of my cousin. I met her when she was pregnant with her daughter Tinasia. We didn’t hang out much but we did things together with her daughter all the time.“Kitina was a free spirit, loved to party, and lived everyday to the fullest. I miss those little outings together and every time I see Tinasia I see Kitina as well. After three years she is looking more and more like Kitina.“I just wish Kitina was here to see her beautiful daughter grow up.”
