Health Minister tours the city in a wheelchair

Heath Minister Zane DeSilva toured Hamilton in a wheelchair this week to learn firsthand about the daily difficulties faced by those with physical disabilities.Mr DeSilva travelled around the city in both a wheelchair and a motorised scooter in a half-hour tour with accessibility officers Keith Simmons and Krista Bean, both of whom work in the National Office for Seniors and the Physically Challenged.At the conclusion of the tour, the Minister was given two reports tackling issues faced by the physically challenged.‘The Bermuda Government Building Accessibility Report’ examines the accessibility of 21 government buildings including post offices, police stations, heath centres and the Cabinet Office.‘Mobility Scooter Feasibility Report’ was a preliminary report looking at the possibility of a motorised scooter service in Hamilton.
