Road closures for official opening of new police/court building

Some roads around the new police/court building named after Dame Lois Browne Evans will be closed on Saturday for the building’s official opening.On Saturday the Premier Paula Cox and Deputy Premier Derrick Burgess will be joining family members of the late Dame Lois for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.After the ceremony, invited guests will be able to view an exhibit of documents relating to the life and career of Dame Lois in the lobby of the building. The exhibit will remain open for public viewing until the start of the Cup Match public holiday on July 28.A Government spokesman said: “The Ministry of Public Works would like to notify the motoring public that there will be several road closures northbound at Court Street at the junction of Church Street and southbound at Victoria Street at the junction of Court Street in Hamilton on Saturday from 6am until 11.30am. Traffic in these areas will be diverted East or West.“The Ministry apologises for any inconvenience the road closures may cause and requests that motorists cooperate with the traffic restrictions in this area of Hamilton and avoid Church Street at the junction of Court Street and Victoria Street at the junction of Court Street.”
