Misspelt 'Goverment' sign raises a few chuckles
A misspelt sign on the back of a government van has caused consternation and a few chuckles on a social networking site.Photographs of the vehicle, emblazoned with the words “Bermuda Goverment”, were posted on Facebook yesterday, prompting numerous unflattering comments. Maria McLeod jokingly suggested the “n” got chopped from the word Government due to budget cuts, while Oba Swan asked: “Does it say Ministry of Edumacation on the side?”Sheila Marshall suggested the signwriter may have gone to the “Department of Edu-vacation or didn’t even finish school”.Others took the error more seriously, with Sharon Raynor declaring it “sad” and pondering: “I wonder how many are out there.”Some noted it was ironic the picture appeared in the week it was announced 97 paraprofessional and teaching posts were being axed in public schools. It hasn’t been revealed who made the blunder but a Government spokeswoman told The Royal Gazette: “Government can advise that the matter is being addressed”.
