Bermuda Hogges 2 Long Island Rough Riders 4Defensive mistakes proved costly for Bermuda Hogges against high-flying Long Island Rough Riders at BAA Field last night.Skipper Keishen gave Hogges the lead after 21 minutes but the home side conceded just minutes later when Keith Detelj volleyed in from close range.Rough Riders pulled ahead on 31 minutes through Ben Arikan who was afforded too much time and space on the edge of the area. And on the stroke of half-time the visitors gave themselves a two-goal cushion when Adriano Gabriele added a third.Midway through the second half Rough Riders scored a fourth when defender Tom Wharf scrambled home a corner to give Rough Riders what seemed like an unassailable lead. But Hogges showed plenty of spirit and character to reduce the deficit on 78 minutes when Bean added his second. With around five minutes remaining substitute Antwan Russell had a goal controversially disallowed when referee Don Dellavia ruled the striker offside, despite no flag being raised by his assistant Anthony Francis. In the final minutes Russell then had a header cleared off the line by Gary Flood.
