Teacher named Bermuda’s ‘voice of tourism’

Teacher Nelsalene Lespere has beaten off competition to be named Bermuda’s new ‘voice of tourism’.The Department of Tourism hopes the “Bermudian crisp voice” of Mrs Lespere will attract tourists to the Island through its new TV commercials.Tourism Minister Patrice Minors has announced Mrs Lespere will do voice-overs for three new TV adverts that aim to promote the Island’s beaches, golf courses and spas.From today the new TV adverts will be shown in the key American markets of Boston, Washington DC, Philadelphia and New York, as well as locally on cable TV. They can also be viewed on Facebook, Your Tube and the Department of Tourism’s website.Mrs Lespere, who works at Paget Primary School, said she was “surprised but excited” to be selected as she hadn’t previously done any voice-over work.She said: “I look forward to making all my fellow Bermudians proud and bringing more tourists to the Island”.At a press conference this morning Ms Minors presented Mrs Lespere with a cheque for $1,000 for her work.The casting call for the ‘voice of tourism’ was made at the start of July and auditions took place at the Just Platinum Studios.
