Hogges end season in defeat

Bermuda Hogges 0 Jersey Express 2Bermuda Hogges signed off their season with a defeat against a well-organised Jersey Express at BAA Field.Express' pacey winger Ansger Otta scored either side of half time to condemn Hogges to their ninth defeat of the campaign.Hogges best spell of the match came during the first half when they twice went close to scoring through Lashun Dill, who forced a flying save from goalkeeper Ray Meara, before heading over from a Khano Smith cross. In the second period, Hogges skipper Keishen Bean called Meara into action with a venomous drive from distance, while at the other end Tahj Bell, in goal for the hosts, had to reel off a handful of saves to prevent the visitors increasing their lead.Despite ending the season with a loss, Hogges coach Maurice Lowe was satisfied his team had accomplished their mission of securing a mid-table position."We're disappointed with the defeat but Jersey are a very strong team and defended very well," he said. "Overall, though, we're very pleased with our season; it's a case of mission accomplished as we've finished mid-table and that was our aim. Hopefully next season we can push on for the play-offs.”Hogges remain fifth in the league table.
