Jury sworn in for kidnap case

A jury has been selected in the case of three men accused of kidnap, assault and robbery, but the evidence will not get underway until Thursday. The trio cousins Kenith and Macray Bulford plus Ashley Wellman deny charges that they held Dwayne Reid-Anderson against his will on January 2, 2010.They are also accused of conspiring to use a firearm to commit the kidnap, wounding Mr Reid-Anderson, 26, with intent to do him grievous bodily harm and robbing him of $4,000 cash.It took more than two hours to find 12 people to serve on the jury panel this morning due to extensive checks to ensure they did not have links to anyone in the case that could compromise their fairness.Once the panel of three men and nine women was sworn in at 11.45am, Puisne Judge Charles-Etta Simmons told them they would not be needed again until Thursday morning. She explained this was due to the lawyers wishing to make legal submissions before the case is opened.Macray Bulford, 38, is represented by lawyer Elizabeth Christopher. Kenith Bulford, 36, is represented by Saul Froomkin QC. Ashley Wellman is represented by Charles Richardson. The men, who are all from Sandys, deny the charges against them.
