Dwayne Caines to become Director of DCIS

Police media manager Dwayne Caines will next month take over the position of Acting Director of the Department of Communication and Information Services.

Mr Caines, who has previously worked with the Bermuda Broadcasting Company, the Bermuda Telephone Company and the Department of Tourism, will hold the position for three-months starting on September 1.

The position was held by Beverle Lottimore, who is now managing the Bermuda Government Office in Washington DC.

Secretary to the Cabinet Donald Scott said that the post of Director of DCI will be filled on an acting basis for the next two years as the post has not been vacated.

Reacting to the announcement, Mr Caines said: “I am humbled and honoured. Any opportunity to serve my country is an honour for me.”

He said he was proud of the advancements made at the Media Relations arm of the police during his time as Media Manager, saying the position gave him experience in crisis management.

“During my time we established an interactive website as well as social media responses and putting our press releases on our website,” he said.

Police press officer Robin Simmons will assume the position of Acting Police Media Manager while Mr Caines is working with DCI.
