Gene Steede, others receive 2011 Queen’s honours at Government House

The Governor, Sir Richard Gozney and the Premier, Paula Cox flank the 2011 Queen?s Certificate and Badge of Honour recipients Patti Jean Millett, Alicia Zuill, Linda Louise Russell and Julia Patton at Government House, on Langton Hill, Pembroke earlier this week.

Singer and entertainer Gene Steede was awarded a member of the British Empire (MBE) this week in a ceremony at Government House. Despite having the option of receiving his award at Buckingham Palace in London, Mr Steede chose to be honoured in Bermuda with his family present.Governor Sir Richard Gozney congratulated Mr Steede, calling him a cultural ambassador for Bermuda. Patti Jean Millett, Julia Patton, Linda Louise Russell and Alicia Zuill were also honoured during the event, earning Queens Certificates or Badge of Honour.
