US bike rider critical after road crash
An American was left in critical condition yesterday following an early morning crash in Devonshire.According to Police, the 27-year-old riding a rental cycle collided with a wall and utility pole on South Road, suffering serious head injuries.A Police spokesman said: “Around 12.25am on Sunday, police responded to a report of a serious single vehicle road traffic collision near the junction with Devon Heights Road.“The rider sustained serious head injuries and was treated by EMTs at the scene before being taken to King Edward VII Memorial for further medical care.”As of press time last night, the rider remained in the hospital’s intensive care unit in critical condition.Traffic was diverted from the area following the collision as investigators examined the scene.The spokesman said inquiries into the crash are ongoing, and asked for any witnesses, or anyone else with information, to contact Pc David McHugh on 295-0011.And in a separate incident yesterday, a motorist was taken to hospital with a leg injury following a collision on Middle Road in Southampton.According to the police spokesman, at around 7.30pm officers and first responders attended the scene of a collision between a car and a motorcycle near the junction with Industrial Park Road.Traffic was diverted from the area as a result, and police inquiries were last night underway.Useful website: www.bps.bm.
