Man dies in road accident

A 41-year-old has died following a Southampton road accident earlier this week.

Alexander Monk was riding a motorcycle when it collided with a bus on Middle Road.

The death of the Hamilton Parish resident is eighth road fatality this year.

Said a Police spokesman: "Around 7.15am on Thursday, November 24, Mr Monk was seriously injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a bus on Middle Road in Southampton in the vicinity of Five Star Island. Mr Monk sustained head injuries and was transported via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead by an on-call physician.

"The Bermuda Police Service extends condolences to the family and friends of Mr Monk."

The police have asked for any witnesses to provide information. They are particularly interested in speaking with the rider of a second motorcycle believed to be in the area at the time of the collision.

Persons are asked to contact PC Bianca Glasford of the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.
