Brothers seriously hurt in road collision

Twin brothers were seriously hurt when they were involved in a collision with a car as they crossed a city street in the early hours of yesterday morning.Both of the 35-year-olds were in the Intensive Care Unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital last night. One of the twins is listed in critical but stable condition, the other’s condition is listed as fair.Police and first responders attended the 2.50am incident on Woodlands Road, in Pembroke, near the junction with Serpentine Road. According to police, it is unclear how the collision occurred.The car driver, a 50-year-old Paget woman, was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained. Inquiries into the incident are continuing. Any witnesses, or anyone with any information should contact the main police number 295-0011.Elsewhere a senior citizen was taken to hospital after being involved in a collision with an auxiliary bike as she was crossing Dundonald Street on Friday afternoon.The accident occurred at 1.45pm, near Bull’s Head car park. The bike, being ridden by a 16-year-old Paget male, was travelling along Dundonald Street, when it was involved in the collision with the 67-year-old pedestrian from Hamilton Parish. Both the rider and the pedestrian were taken to hospital. The 16-year-old was later released, while the senior citizen was reportedly in a stable condition on a general ward at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.Any witnesses to this collision are urged to contact PC David McHugh on the main police number.Police are also investigating a robbery that occurred around 3am on Saturday, on Front Street near the junction with Parliament Street. Officers and first responders discovered a 35-year-old Southampton man lying in the cycle parking area outside Number 6 passenger terminal, apparently with some personal items missing. The victim was taken to hospital and at last check was in stable condition on a general ward. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit.
