Police reissue witness appeal for Woodlands Road crash

Police are today continuing their appeal for witnesses to the serious collision early Sunday morning on Woodlands Road in Pembroke, that left twin brothers in the Intensive Care Unit of King Edward VII Memorial, as the investigation continues.The victims, 35-year-old twin brothers from Pembroke, are both making progress on the road to recovery.A hospital spokeswoman said last night the brother listed in critical condition on Sunday, has been upgraded to stable, while his twin has been upgraded as well from fair to stable condition.The car driver, a 50-year-old Paget woman, has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.Police are particularly appealing for anyone who saw the victims prior to the collision, between 2am and 2.50am Sunday, January 29, or anyone who may have been in the Woodlands Road, Pembroke area around the time of the collision, to contact PC Tavoris Douglas on 295-0011.On another matter, police are investigating a single vehicle road traffic accident that occurred on St. Anne’s Road, in Southampton, at 6.55am yesterday morning.The car was travelling along St Anne’s Road when it went over an embankment and hit a house in the area, causing damage to both the car and the home.The driver, a 28-year-old Southampton woman was not injured.Police also responded to a report of a single vehicle collision that occurred around 4.29am on Sunday, January 29, on Harrington Sound Road in Hamilton Parish near the junction with Paynter’s Road.The jeep was travelling along Harrington Sound Road when it collided with an embankment and overturned.The driver, a 43-year-old Warwick man was not injured; however the jeep was damaged as a result.Around 2.40am on Saturday January 28, police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Horseshoe Road in Southampton, where another car, travelling along Horseshoe Road went over an embankment and ended up on the wall of a nearby home.The driver of the car left the scene prior to police arrival. The passenger, a 24-year-old Warwick woman received minor injuries.The car was extensively damaged and later towed away from the scene. Any witnesses to this collision are encouraged to contact PC Gavin Richardson on 295-0011. Inquiries into all four accidents are ongoing.A 39-year-old Pembroke woman was also arrested and detained around 3.30am on Saturday January 28, when police officers on mobile patrol on King Street in the City of Hamilton, noticed a car driving erratically near the junction with Reid Street.Officers stopped the car and spoke to the driver who appeared to be intoxicated. The driver was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained in police custody after failing the alco-analyser test. A court appearance is expected in due course.And police arrested ten people for outstanding warrants for outstanding warrants over the weekend. Officers also conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
