Bermuda Regiment soldiers scale an obstacle at Warwick Camp.

The same training course that recently put the Bermuda Regiment’s recruits through their paces is about to be turned over to volunteers for charity. The Island Challenge will send teams of four through the beach runs, walls and wiggle spaces, from Warwick Camp to the Regiment assault course.Teams will raise money through support pledges, with the winners decided through a point system based on running time and fund raising alike. The selected registered charities for the inaugural challenge on March 10 are Raleigh International, Knowledge Quest and the Bermuda International Film Festival.Billed by organiser Aideen Ratteray Pryse as “a truly unique team-building experience”, the Island Challenge will offer three divisions: General, Company and Youth the final category applying to teens between 14 and 18.“The best part is that you don’t actually have to be fit, you just have to be willing to try,” Ms Ratteray Pryse said. “These are tough times for charities, and this is a terrific way for everyone to help.”The first Island Challenge will be limited to 75 teams.Registration forms and other details are available at www.islandchallenge.org.
