Man attacked on Front Street

A 23-year-old was set upon and robbed by five men on Front Street last night.

The Smith’s resident was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for his injuries, and released.

According to police, the man was walking near Chancery Lane around 3am when he was attacked.

Five men and a woman have since been arrested.

Said a Police spokeswoman: “An unknown female was reportedly with the group of males at the time. The assailants took personal items from the victim before fleeing on foot. A short time later, police located the suspects and arrested them in connection with this incident.

“The five males and one female, who range in age from 17 to 33 years old, remain in police custody pending further inquiries.”

The victim’s property was recovered. A court appearance is expected.
