Power outage forces Customs HQ closure

A power outage on Front Street caused HM Customs headquarters to close early yesterday, but left most of Hamilton unaffected.According to Belco, the outage began at around 2.30pm, affecting HM Customs office opposite the Cabinet Office and 40 Front Street.Belco said yesterday afternoon that the fault may have been brought about by the nearby construction of a new entrance to the Hamilton docks.“The fault appears to be related to construction in the area, but investigation of the event is ongoing,” the spokeswoman said.As of press time last night, Belco was still working to resolve the issue.
