Ryan moves on to the next round at The X Factor

Ryan Bean

He said the sky is the limit and today his head is in the clouds. When Bermudian Ryan Bean stepped out on stage at London’s Emirates Stadium early Friday morning, his heart was racing so fast that it was hard to breathe. But through it all he came through a gruelling round of auditions for The X Factor and was asked to sing not once, but twice. It will be another four weeks before its official, but as far as he’s concerned he made the shortlist and the best is yet to come. When contacted by The Royal Gazette, Mr Bean was still beaming and his voice was filled with excitement.“I did my first audition around 10am, I told the judges a little bit about myself, they asked me to sing the first verse and the chorus a cappella. I did get a bit nervous, I was sweating but worst of all my heart was racing really fast.“When it was finally my turn I just prayed for peace that surpasses all understanding and it was right then and there that I calmed down and did my thing.“When I finished the judges were very quiet but they were smiling and right after that they said the magic words — ‘we’re going to put you through to the next round’.”The second time around he was asked to sing the whole song with music, the song he sang was ‘Its so Hard to Say Goodbye’ by Boyz II Men.“The judges told me they enjoyed it and said they will be in contact within the next four weeks. I said thank you and told them I appreciate the opportunity just to be here to live out my dream.”When asked what happened next he said: “I lost my breath all over again when they gave me my red slip which means I go through. My wife Edonna was waiting outside with the other contestants, by the time I got to her she already knew.“I told her we just have to wait and she was really excited for me, we both are.”Mr Bean talked about losing his breath in the initial article published in this newspaper on April 3. After the audition yesterday he said: “This is the first time I ever sang with my heart racing like that but this is what I’ve been waiting for.“I was impressed with myself even though I was nervous. The judges even told me they loved my suit, I wore an ivory pin stripped suit.“Now I can finally relax and enjoy a bit of London with my wife, even the staff where we are staying at Mount Apartments on Seven Sisters Road in London were cheering us on leading up to the big day. They were amazed that we came all the way from Bermuda to follow a dream.”Ms Bean said: “They are now requesting Ryan’s autograph and claiming he’s a winner, and they have gone beyond the call of duty to make sure we were ready.”The couple will return to Bermuda on Monday. Mr Bean said: “There will be a lot of prayer during the next four weeks, I just have to hold on with faith. God has brought me this far and I know he will never leave me.”When asked if he had anything to say to his supporters here in Bermuda, he said: “Thank you so much for your love and support and I assure you that I will continue to do my very best to make Bermuda proud.”And to young budding artists he said: “Just hold on to your dreams because I’m actually living out mine.”The popular British music show The X Factor is a television competition for singers who compete for a major recording contract which is the top prize.
