Chief Immigration Officer moves to Cabinet role

Rozy Azhar, former Chief Immigration Officer, is to be named an assistant Cabinet Secretary,

The Royal Gazette has learned.

Ms Azhar, Bermuda’s first female Chief Immigration Officer, has been an acting assistant Cabinet Secretary for about a year.

Government advertised three vacant senior civil service positions earlier this year. Two were for Permanent Secretaries and one for an Assistant Cabinet Secretary (Service Delivery and Performance) who is expected to “provide a suite of senior executive services to the Cabinet Office to ensure the delivery of Government-mandated programmes and services”.

Meanwhile, Esan Frederick has resigned his position as assistant Chief Immigration Officer and is now understood to be working in a management position at Tucker’s Point.
