Bus driver charged with traffic offences
A bus driver was fined $1,350 for traffic offences, some dating back to 2007.Beverley Ann Pitt, of 5 Rockywold Drive, Sandys, was charged in Magistrates’ Court for driving an unlicensed car with no third party insurance and driving without a drivers’ licence in April 2007.The 47-year-old was also charged with driving without due care and attention in 2009.She pleaded guilty to all four offences.Prosecutor Susan Mulligan said that at 2.52pm on January 25, 2009 Pitt was driving an omnibus and made a wide right turn from Cedar Avenue onto Victoria Street and collided into a motor car.Pitt was ticketed and charged with driving without due care and attention.She apologised to the court for her lack of judgement in the matter.Lawyer Susan Moore-Williams said “this was a one-off lapse in judgement” for the defendant and that Pitt is still employed by the PTB to this day.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Pitt a total of $1,350 for the offences.
