Seniors hurt in road accident
A motorcycle rider and a 72-year-old pedestrian who was hit in a road traffic accident on Tuesday are both still in hospital today. A hospital spokeswoman confirmed the rider was moved out of the Intensive Care Unit last night to a general ward where he is listed in stable condition.The pedestrian, a 72-year-old Paget man is also in stable condition on a general ward. The spokeswoman said the pillion passenger, an 82-year-old Devonshire woman was treated and later released.The accident occurred on Middle Road in Devonshire near the junction with Garthowen Road around 8pm on Tuesday.A police spokesman said initial indications are that the collision occurred with the pedestrian “who seemed to be disoriented”.Inquiries into this incident are ongoing and any witnesses are encouraged to contact PC Shem Obeius on 295-0011.
