Nicholas Dill elected as Bishop

The Island's Anglican community has elected Rev Nicholas Dill as its new Bishop, following a Eucharist at the Anglican Cathedral in Hamilton.Votes were cast by members of the Synod, the church's administrative council, in three rounds of ballots.Members chose Reverend Dill Archdeacon over Archdeacon Andrew Doughty.Bishop-elect Dill said the election was "very close," adding "I have to confess a degree of surprise. I did pray God's will would be done and that he would speak through his holy spirit to the people who were there."He went on to say: "It's not about me and wanting the position for its own sake, but about the Church and what people are looking forward to to build the future."The next step is for the Archbishop of Canterbury to give his approval of the result before an enthronement ceremony takes place.
