Airport radar is out of service

The air traffic control radar used to guide aircraft through local airspace has been out of service for the past three days.Airport officials insist there have been “no disruptions to Bermuda flights as a result”.A spokesman confirmed: “The secondary surveillance radar located at LF Wade [International Airport], which is owned by the FAA and used by them to provide air traffic management services, was taken out of service on January 27 for repairs.“It is anticipated that the unit will remain out of service while officials await the arrival of equipment parts from the United States.”In the interim he said: “The FAA will exercise standard non-radar operating procedures until it completes the work with the assistance of Bermuda technicians.“There are no disruptions to Bermuda flights as a result of the outage.”
