Club 3:16 ‘Think Tank’ to host youth street festival
Bermuda’s political leaders and community stake holders have been invited to attend the first one day youth street festival outside the former Hubie’s Bar on Saturday.The new Club 3:16 ‘Think Tank’ will host “Operation Put Back” for the grass roots community to promote “good, clean fun in a neutral territory”.Spokeswoman Althea Iris said plans are under way to host the event once a year in February, to promote Bermudian culture and unity.The ‘Think Tank’ is a community based spiritual outreach programme designed to “raise awareness and encourage business leaders to put back time, resources and commitment into the grassroots community.Said Ms Iris: “We recognise the Country is under difficult times and sacrifice is required. Our theme this year is reconciliation to bring people together despite hard times.”Organisers include Dennis Bean and Clifford Simmons who distributed invitations yesterday to various stakeholders to attend the event.A host of local entertainers will be performing during the day with cedar art crafted by inmates at Westgate Correctional Facility on display. There will also be fun castles and special events for children in addition to foods stalls, community support tables and the Gombeys.Sections of Court and Angle Streets will be closed to traffic between 1pm and 8pm.
