Injured sailors being treated in Bermuda

Two merchant sailors are being treated in Bermuda after they were injured on the job in separate incidents.A 51-year-old Filipino was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital yesterday after he “sustained a serious injury to his right hand” 200 nautical miles south of the Island.The engine room fitter was on board the 33,000-bulk carrier Mare Trader, which was bound for Turkey when the accident occurred.Meanwhile, a “large” wave injured a crew member on board the merchant ship Bow Rivad, when it was approximately 210 nautical miles south east of the Island yesterday afternoon.The man received “serious” back injuries and was expected to be evacuated to Bermuda via helicopter this morning.
